Duplicate Detective: Cleaner App Reviews

All duplicates found in my mediathek are correct as far as I have checked it. I wish extended select options to select files I want to delete: e.g all file names that include ‚*_2_???.mp4‘ or if a file is in folder a as well as in folder b keep the file in folder b. But ey, I have cleaned 4 gb in less than an hour!!!! :-)

I have used a couple of duplicate file finders but since discovering Duplicate Detective I have used no others. It does its job simply, clearly, quickly and without fuss. One of the best bits of software that I have ever invested in. I can reccomend it without hesitation.

The searching algorthim is good and it find a lot of duplicates, but you have to do much of manual work by selecting the right duplicates. There is a function, called Auto-Select, but your only preference is to adjust „take new or old version“ and not other criteria like specific destinations of files.

I’m a Babyboomer - not computeriliterate but some stuff gets me. Anyways: dowloaded the APP and started deleating files in no time. Sofar I have freed close to 3 GB of unwanted garbage. thumbs up!

So I just recently bought this app and I think it’s great and all, but the issue here is the part where it’s suppose to clean my duplicates. It’s not deleting my files even after the new update.

It’s got a feature that creates an alias shortcut that you can use in place of the duplicate file which will direct you to the remamining copy! Not super intuitive but well worth it after you you do a little digging around. Although this thing can really fill your trash bin, mine appeared empty despite have loads of files in it. The key is emptying your trash bin out after you use this app.

This software is amazing. I have freed up about 100 gigs and saved myself hours of work. Simple drag and drop the folder. Fantastoc and kind of fun!

Quick and easy. Saved me a huge amount of time from manually searching out duplicate pictures and freed up a huge amount of space on my computer. Would highly recommend this app.

I like how easy it is to use and it deffinatly found most of my duplicate files. I like it!

While I appreciate the humour and effort to display the effort being undertaken while scaning when I gave it 65,893 photos to scan, a more verbose progress mode would be appreciated. The progress bar just hangs up whil it works away. A window with a terminal type progress/file being scan/list being generated would be great.

In just a short amount of time, I was able to clean up my photos by eliminating more than 1000 replicates I didn’t need. The only warning I can give is to make sure you know that checking the box means you are discarding the photo/document etc. rather than saving them.

OK like certain things about iPhoto. The onething I can’t, is how esaily you can make a duplicate. I don’t have the paintence to try to cleanup the mess I made. This program did the trick. Cleaned 245MB first scan and not all those frustrating duplicates. Very simple little program. If your iPhoto is full of duplicates this is the program for you.

When I ran this app it did find duplicates but all were files with the exact same file name. It missed many music files that has the same file size but slightly different file names. I read the developer’s support website and see that this app compares the HASH values.. but I was expecting this app to show me a list of similar files to determine what was duplicate. I could have just sorted the folder by name and deleted every duplicate myself. Maybe I am missing a setting.. but will have to find another app to help me.

Finally cleaned up my mess with this . Awesone. Cleaned up some music files too :)

It does exactly what it says. And it does it fast. It helped me removed 10G of videos and image files. Thanks DD!

This software is amazing. It finds all duplicates but can not always clean them on first try. Once the first check is complete, let it run again and even again to get rid of all duplicates. I highly recommend this software to anyone with a large collection of files.

Works great! Does what I needed to do, which was clean up my iphoto library.
